Never picked up a hook before? Then this one day workshop is for you! Based on our incredibly popular 4 week course, this workshop is ideal for complete beginners to complete in just one day.
A one-day intensive workshop for adults, 10am - 4pm with plenty of breaks.
You’ll get 2 premium Clover Amour crochet hooks to use and to take home, all the yarn is included and you'll take home 2 balls to continue your crochet practice. Tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day are included.
What you'll learn
This is an example of what you will learn. As Kate is keeping this to a small class size, you can also suggest any topic or questions you particular you want to learn and Kate will try to incorporate it.
Workshop Overview
Session 1: Getting Started
- Learn the basics: how to hold your hook and yarn
- Master your first 4 stitches
- Start your stitch sample swatch
Tea/Coffee Break
Session 2: Building Skills
- Practice and perfect last week’s stitches
- Crochet your very first traditional granny square
- Introduction to reading crochet patterns and stitch abbreviations
Lunch Break 1 hr
Session 3: Going in Circles
- Crochet a circle and make a coaster
- Learn about increasing
- Troubleshooting common issues
Tea/Coffee Break
Session 4: Bringing It All Together
- Expand on everything you’ve learned
- Crochet some cute flowers and learn a new stitch
- Time for creativity, questions, and finishing up
What to bring
- You don't need to bring anything. Yarn and hooks will be available to use on the day. But feel free to bring along any yarn or patterns you want to use.
- Please arrive about 10 minutes earlier if you fancy a coffee, so we can get it made in time to start.
Your tutor -Kate McCully
Kate is an award winning crochet designer, author and experienced crochet workshop tutor. She creates patterns and kits under the name Make Me Roar and write patterns regularly for Magazine and yarn companies. You can see some of Kate’s amigurumi crochet work on display in the window. Yes, that Kate, winner of Channel 4’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas. Ask her. She’s humble, but not that humble!
