Collagraph Printing Workshop

Join Illustrator Nina Mooncie on this hands-on workshop, exploring Collagraph printing. Collagraph printing is a versatile printmaking method where a textured plate, created by collaging various materials onto a rigid surface, is inked and pressed onto paper to produce prints with rich, intricate surfaces.

During the workshop you will explore basic collagraph methods using a range of textured material like different card stock and polystyrene foam. Shapes and textures are added to mountboard much like creating a collage. These collaged pieces can then be inked up to create collagraph prints. The final image can be abstract or figurative.
We will aim at creating a series of small prints exploring shades of colour and texture. The session will include making the collagraph plates from scratch, followed by inking and printing them.

Nina will provide a variety of materials and inspiration but feel free to bring any inspiration (this might be sketchbook work, photographs or reference images from books or online) or textured material that you would like to work with. We will be working with water-soluble printing inks, please bring an apron or wear non-precious clothes!

Amazing place for anyone who loves arts and craft or excellent coffee! Kate is incredibly kind and patient. The sessions are well designed and thoughtfully set up. The group sizes are perfect. Sociable but small enough that you can ask tonnes of questions as you go. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a dream come true to have round the corner.
