Never picked up a hook before? Then course is for you! Learn how to do the basic crochet stitches in this small class size.

What you'll learn
This is an example of what you will learn. As Kate is keeping this to a small class size, you can also suggest any topic or questions you particular you want to learn and Kate will try to incorporate it. You also free to pop in to the shop any time between class or adhoc advice from Kate.

Course Overview.

Week 1: Getting Started

- Learn the basics: how to hold your hook and yarn

- Master your first 4 stitches

- Start your stitch sample swatch

- Crochet your very first traditional granny square

Week 2: Building Skills

- Practice and perfect last week’s stitches

- Learn new stitches

- Introduction to reading crochet patterns and stitch abbreviations

- Join your granny squares together

Week 3: Going in Circles

- Crochet a circle two different ways (great for amigurumi!)

- Learn how to change colours cleanly

- Troubleshooting common issues

- Bring a pattern to try out or use one at the shop.

Week 4: Bringing It All Together

- Expand on everything you’ve learned

- Continue working on your chosen projects with guidance. Kate will help trouble shoot any problems.

- Time for creativity, questions, and finishing up

What to bring

- You don't need to bring anything. Yarn and hooks will be available to use on the day. But feel free to bring along any yarn or patterns you want to use.

- Please arrive about 10 minutes earlier if you fancy a coffee, so we can get it made in time to start.

Your tutor -Kate McCully
Kate is an award winning crochet designer, author and experienced crochet workshop tutor. She creates patterns and kits under the name Make Me Roar and write patterns regularly for Magazine and yarn companies. You can see some of Kate’s amigurumi crochet work on display in the window. Yes, that Kate, winner of Channel 4’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas. Ask her. She’s humble, but not that humble!
