This is a beginner friendly workshop
Join visual artist Claire Piper for a hands on workshop exploring the creative possibilities of layering different forms of acrylic.
In this relaxed and welcoming session, participants will experiment with acrylic paint, inks and pens, learning how to build layers with different techniques to create depth, texture and expressive imagery.
Claire will provide demonstrations, sample pieces and individual guidance throughout the session, helping participants gain confidence with acrylic materials while developing their own creative approach.
Most importantly, the workshop is designed to be a relaxed, enjoyable and creative experience, where participants can experiment, try new techniques and enjoy making art in a supportive environment.
You are welcome to bring along an existing piece of work to develop further, use Claire’s ready to go prepped swatches or start something completely new during the workshop.
Participants will experiment with a range of acrylic techniques including:
- Layering acrylic paint, acrylic ink and acrylic pens
- Building depth, texture and colour through layered acrylic techniques
- Using alcohol with acrylic to create organic patterns
- Printing and expressive mark-making
By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Learn practical techniques for working with acrylic paint, inks and pens
- Create their own layered acrylic artwork
- Gain ideas and approaches they can continue exploring at home
- Enjoy a creative, relaxed and inspiring evening making art
All material costs are included and you'll take home an acrylic pen to practice at home.
The session is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience who would like to explore new approaches to working with acrylic.
- Please do not come dressed in your favourite clothes, or bring an apron. Acrylic paint does not come out of fabric.
